Uniform Recordings serves up two more top shelf tracks to bring in the New Year. Following up "Beat That Bitch" comes Jake Childs' "11:11 EP" with sultry pair "Dirty H Town" and "Your Girlfriend," featuring Shina Rae of Drop Music. The title of the EP holds great meaning for Childs. In numerology, 11 represents not only visionaries and artistic values, but the repeating digits 11:11 serve as a metaphor for patterns that emerge in our personal experiences. Using this as inspiration churned out the tracks that appear here and as a result, they also hold meaning on multiple levels. But that doesn't mean you have to listen intently to groove to these tracks. "Dirty H Town" is a tribute to "the dirty south" with simple moody piano thirds in conjunction with more driving dark synths, keeping the grind going 'till the early hours. "Your Girlfriend" seems to be a smoother lick with organ mainlines and brass injections until the surprise vocal towards the middle; "I f**ked your girlfriend, I f**ked your bitch" precursors a drop with grimy background synths that keeps the ears piqued and the floor full. Not only has Jake been picked as a guest reviewer for the April issue of URB, but the EP has been marked for review as well, providing timely publicity for this release. Look for remixes by Demarkus Lewis, Eddie Spettro, and Paul Paredes in the near future.
